Elves: Elves are guardians of nature, seldom leaving their forest homes unless forced to. There are comparatively fewer elves than even most other magical races, but in return, they are nearly ageless; a natural lifespan for an elf is somewhere in the thousands. They are frailer than most humanoid races, but are naturally dextrous and keen-sighted; when it comes to ranged combat, elves are difficult to beat.
Kitsune: Kitsune are spirits, beings that are able to take on corporeal forms by devouring the life energy of living things around them. They look very close to human, with the exception of foxlike tails and ears that sprout from their body; when not in combat, however, kitsune are able to hide those traits, becoming indistinguishable physically from a normal human. Most kitsune are not technically ageless, but are able to maintain their youth with the life energy they absorb.
Dragon: Dragons are fearsome tyrants, considered by many to have stood at the top of the food chain in their heyday millenia ago. They have two forms; a humanoid form that looks humanlike, and a scaly reptilian form that grows in size as the dragon grows in power. Dragons are almost always specialized in one element of magic, and their hair/scale color reflects this element. Dragons are also easily the longest living of any race with a lifespan; their life can last up to ten thousand years, although no recorded dragon has ever reached that age.
Ghast: Ghasts are magical beings akin to zombies, in that their bodies were originally dead. Whether through a specific magical ritual or through an enchanted item, Ghasts are corpses that have had souls implanted in them, bringing them back to life. While the body and soul are bonded, it is as if the body is living again; it can feel sensations such as pain, and the body will act as if it were perfectly normal (although any previous decay to the body will remain). Ghasts can have the appearance of any race, but are noticeable through a lack of fine motor skills; they can be adept at swordsmanship, but cannot write a sentence, and have difficulty with facial expressions.
Merfolk: Merfolk are amphibious beings that can be found throughout several locales. They have two forms, like dragons; a bipedal form with lungs for walking on land, and a form with gills based on any sea creature that they use for underwater travel. Merfolk live to roughly twice the age of the average human, which is short-lived for a magical race. As such, many feel a need to explore as much of the world as they can before their time ends.
